CPUT APS Calculation Methods

Cape Peninsula University of Technology uses different calculation methods depending on your chosen program.

Method 1: Best of Six

Used for most programs. Takes your best 6 subjects and divides by 10.

APS = (Sum of 6 best subjects) ÷ 10

Method 2: Engineering/Science

Double weighting for Maths and Physical Sciences, plus English and best other subject.

APS = (2×Maths + 2×Physics + English + Best Other) ÷ 10

Method 3: Business/Accounting

Double weighting for Maths and Accounting, plus English and other subjects.

APS = (2×Maths + 2×Accounting + English + Others) ÷ 10

Important Notes:

CPUT uses percentage scores directly (not converted to APS points)
Life Orientation is included but may have different weighting
English is required for all methods
